Center sings agreement with State to built multi-purpose sports complex at Kondagaon

To promote sports activities in tribal dominated areas of the State, an agreement was signed between Government of India (GOI) and State Government to built multi-purpose indoor sports complex at Kondagaon here on Friday. The complex will be built at the cost of Rs 5.97 crore and will be equipped with modern facilities. It may be recalled that Sport Minister Lata Usendi in month of June met Union Sports Minister Ajay Makhan at New Delhi and gave proposal for multi-purpose indoor sports complex in tribal dominated Kondagon.

In a late night development, Chief Minister Dr. Raman Singh appointed Prashant Agrawal, Commandant, 5th Battalion, Chhattisgarh Armed Force (CAF) , as Superintendent of Police, Kondagaon and asked Agrawal to take the charge within an hour. It is to be mentioned here that Konadagaon Superintendent of Police Deepak Kumar Jha was removed soon after the Body Guard of State Sports Minister Lata Usendi was shot dead at the minister’s residence on Thursday. Jha will take over Commandant, 5th Battalion, CAF.

Suspected Naxals open fire at Minister Usendi's home

Bodyguard of Chhattisgarh’s Sports Minister Lata Usendi was shot dead at the Minister’s bungalow in Kondagaon on Thursday. The Minister was in a programme at Bania village, 10 km from Kondagaon, when three persons reached the bungalow on a motorcycle around 7.45 pm and shot at Ratanlal Netam, the guard on duty. Netam was a resident of Banskot in Kondagaon district and was engaged in duty at Minister’s residence just three days back.

Vidvaan-2012 held successfully

Large number of students turned up at "MATS VIDVAAN-2012" a mega scholarship examination held under joint aegis of the renowned Hindi Daily of Chhattisgarh, Navabharat and Consol India on Sunday. The examination was held on local Saraswati Shishu Mandir school. Enthusiasm among the examinees was at peak. Interestingly, many students who had not applied for the examination also turned up at the venue, but they had to go back empty handed. The examinees. were in two folds as compared to last year's figure.

Employment officials posted in 9 new district

State Government has posted officials to Employment and Self-Employment Guidance Centers (ESEGC)in the nine newly constituted district for the convenience of unemployment youth in these areas. Technical Education Department of the State has posted the officials of Directorate of Employment and Training to these positions. According to the order released from Secretariat issued on behalf of the Department, A O Lari serving as Deputy Director of ESEGC at Jagdalpur, has been posted to Sukma.

Chief Minister Raman Singh will inaugurate the newly-carved Kondagaon district in the restive south Chhattisgarh today. Kondagaon, which was carved out of Bastar, will be the 27th district of the state. The Chief Minister, who had already inaugurated eight of the nine new districts -- which came into existence on January 1 taking the total number of districts to 27 -- is scheduled to address a rally at Kondagaon today after inaugurating the offices of the Collector and Superintendent of Police. 12.00pm inaugurated at Stadium Ground, Kondagaon.

Saying that geography of Chhattisgarh has changed from January 1, Chief Minister Dr. Raman Singh said that the journey of Chhattisgarh's development began with 16 districts, then Narayanpur and Bijapur were constituted in 2007 and now nine new districts, have been added taking number of districts to 27. We want district administration to reach to far-fledged areas of Chhattisgarh, so that everyone could get more and more facilities while the Government could save time and money.

Nine more districts came into existence in Chhattisgarh on Sunday, taking the total number to 27, chief minister Raman Singh said.

The new districts, a new year gift to people, were carved out to speed up the pace of development, Singh said while talking to reporters here.
The new districts are Sukma, Kondagaon, Balod, Bemetara, Baloda Bazar, Gariaband, Mungeli, Surajpur and Balrampur.

Sukma district has been carved out of the state's worst Maoist affected Dantewada district and Kondagaon from the insurgency-hit Bastar district.
