ABB, leading power and automation technology group has won an order worth about 175 crore from Powergrid Corporation of India to supply equipment for the Champa transmission substation in the central Indian state of Chhattisgarh.
The Champa substation will be a pooling station receiving power at 765 and 400 kilovolt (kV) and is part of Powergrid's plan to build a stronger national grid in India.
A Delegate of Akhil Bhartiya Ram Navami Sabha (ABRS) met Chief Minister Dr. Raman Singh at CM House here the other day. The delegates invited the Chief Minister to attend Ram Navami Mela (fair) which would be organised at village Kusmul,Dhabhra development block, Janjgir-Champa on January 6. The delegates informed that the fair organised for more than hundred years. Dr. Singh thanked the members the of ABRS and extended his best wishes.
Power, and not paddy, may be the new identity of Janjgir-Champa, Chhattisgarh’s largest irrigated district.
The state government has inked memoranda of understanding with 34 companies over the past five years for setting up power projects in the district, located in the state’s north-east. If the proposals materialise, the highly fertile Janjgir-Champa will be the only district in the country to have such a large number of power plants
