On the occasion of Republic Day, Governor of Chhattisgarh Shekhar Dutt unfurled the tricolor and inspected 'guard of honour' in the programme organized at Police Parade Ground in capital city Raipur. On the occasion, Governor also inspected the cultural performances of school-college students and the tableaus decorated by the various departments of state government. In his message to public on the occasion of Republic Day, Governor Dutt extended hearty wishes and greetings to the people on this national festival.

On the eve of Christmas, the birth anniversary of Lord Jesus Christ, Various Programmes were organised in schools and churches in the city on Tuesday besides the programme organized by different social and culture organizations. Carrying the message of Lord Jesus's Birth, members of Chosen Youth Le Catholic Minister and Prayer Group met Governor Shekhar Dutt and first lady Sushmita Dutt. They also sang a couple of carol songs to mark the day.
India as country needs to develop interms of science of science and technology and becoming a mere consumer country would not catapult us into league of developed nation. The country needs to build its reputation as provider of quality goods and services. Governor Shekhar Dutt expressed these views while speaking at the Shankaracharya technical campus in Bhilai during international conference 'Transilience-2012.'
Opposition Congress tried its best to make the opening day of Ninth Session (Budget Session) of Chhattisgarh's third Legislative Assembly chaotic with repeated interruptions during the opening speech of Governor Shekhar Dutt. When Governor was giving information regarding the works under-taken by State Government for the betterment of farmers and agriculture, Congress Member Tamradhawaj Sahu commented that there is no mention of Rs 270 bonus on paddy.

Chief Minister Dr. Raman Singh, State Assembly Speaker Dharamlal Kaushik and Mayor Dr. Kiranmayee Nayak was also present as special guest on the occasion.

A study team of Senior Directing Staff from National Defense college New Delhi called on Governor Shekhar Dutt for a courtesy visit. The sixteen members delegation lead by major General B K Sharma constituted of Brigadier ranked officers of Indian Army. The team also consisted of foreign delegates hailing from South Africa, Nigeria and Sri Lanka.

“Country loses its enormous investments on higher education when skilled people migrate because we fail to evaluate their ability and also to utilize their talent in the development of the State or area,” asserted Governor of Chhattisgarh, Shekhar Dutt as Chief Guest. Dutt was addressing the two-day National Conference on ‘Role of Science & Technology for Sustainable Development of Chhattisgarh’ organized by Shri Shankaracharya Group of Institute at the Auditorium of Shri Shankaracharya Technical Campus (SSTC), Junwani .

Chhattigarh Governor Shekhar Dutt suddenly took ill and almost fainted while addressing a Republic Day ceremony here this morning.
However, he later completed his speech. According to officials, his condition is normal now.
Dutt felt discomfort during his speech after unfurling the tri-colour at the Parade ground.
One of his aides and Additional Director General of Police Ram Niwas prevented him from collapsing on the stage and helped him sit on a chair.
A team of doctors reached the stage and gave primary treatment to Dutt.
