Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh Dr Raman Singh today said that the proposed amendment in the Land Acquisition and Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013 will pave way for India’s progress and development. He asserted that the existing act has been hampering the development process of the country and the proposed amendment will open up new avenues of growth for states like Chhattisgarh where average in national highways, railways and irrigation was less than the national average.

Newly-appointed Chairman of Chhattisgarh State Handicraft Development Board Mr. Deepak Sahu paid courtesy visit to Chief Minister Dr Raman today. Mr. Sahu had a discussion with Dr Singh about promoting handicraft in state and providing better exposure to the local craftsmen.

Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley today said that Central Government will release one-third of Chhattisgarh’s balance CST compensation of Rs 2,157 crore as first installment in this financial year. During a meeting with Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh in New Delhi, Union Finance Minister Mr Jaitley said that one third of the balance CST compensation will be released to the state this year and the remaining will be released in two installments in next two years.
