Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh attended Chitranshotsav Sneh Sammelan, Pujan Shobha Yatra, and cultural programme organized at Shaheed Smarak Bhavan yesterday evening, on the occasion of Shri Chitragupta Jayanti. Chief Minister extended hearty wishes to people on the occasion of Chitragupta Jayanti. In the programme, Vidhan Sabha Speaker Mr. Gaurishankar Agrawal, Raipur Development Authority Chairman Mr. Sanjay Shrivastava and other prominent citizens were also present.
On the occasion of Republic Day, Governor of Chhattisgarh Shekhar Dutt unfurled the tricolor and inspected 'guard of honour' in the programme organized at Police Parade Ground in capital city Raipur. On the occasion, Governor also inspected the cultural performances of school-college students and the tableaus decorated by the various departments of state government. In his message to public on the occasion of Republic Day, Governor Dutt extended hearty wishes and greetings to the people on this national festival.
Chief Minister Dr. Raman Singh has stated that Chhattisgarh has made the country's first Food Security Act (FSA) under Public Distribution System and after adding the component of Nutrition Security, has successfully implemented it in the State for the poor. Adding that the Central Food Security Bill (FSB) introduced by the Congress led United Progressive Alliance Government at the Centre is insufficient the Chief Minister said there is hell and heaven difference between the Chhattisgarh's FSA and Centre's FSB.
Expressing concern over the declining rupee, Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh insisted over the need of better financial management on part of Central Government. These are the signs of recession, which will result in inflation and adversely affect the life of common people in the country. Centre should take serious steps to avert the same, said Dr Singh while addressing the concluding session of 54th annual convention of Chhattisgarh Chamber of Commerce and Industries today as Chief Guest of the occasion.
Despite being a new state, Chhattisgarh has secured second rank at national-level in terms of expanding employment opportunities in state, while the other old and developed states of the country like Gujarat, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Punjab and Haryana have lagged behind. First rank-holder in this list is Jharkhand- also a new state like Chhattisgarh that was formed 13 years ago. This major achievement of both the newly-formed states has become a matter of discussion at national-level.
"To ensure availability and supply of quality medicines of low cost to the patients, use of generic medicines should be encouraged and strict ban should be imposed on sale of counterfeited medicines", said Bhagat Singh Koshiyari, Chairman of Parliamentary Committee constituted by Rajya Sabha to recommend quality control measures for food products and medicinal drugs. Chief Minister Dr. Raman Singh in his brisk reaction on the observations made by Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh in the Rajya Sabha on Friday said that the assessment made by the Prime Minister regarding a new State like Chhattisgarh is very optimistic and encouraging. Expressing his gratitude to the Prime Minister for the encouragement, the Chief Minister gave the credit of this fast development of this new State to the hard work of people and the State's work-culture. Convocation Ceremony of Pt. Ravishankar Shukla University was organised where in one D.lit, 122 Ph.D. and 65 gold medals were awarded to the students. Governor of Chhattisgarh Shri Shekhar Dutt presided over the Ceremony, Chief Guest Prof. Ved Prakash, Chairman of University grant commision (UGC) deliverd the convocation speech. Chief Minister Dr. Raman Singh was grace the occassion as special guest.
Bhartiya Janata Party MP Madhusudan Yadav and BJP State General Secretary Shivratan Sharma in their statements have stated that the country is not jagir (estate) of the Congress party. The party has not been given mandate by the people for looting the country. The Congress-led United Progressive Alliance Government at the Center is engaged in looting the mineral resources of the country.
