Naxals resist health workers in Dantewada

Naxals kidnap Station Master, three others release later

In a dramatic turn of events, four employees of Bhansi Railway station, including Station Master and three others, who were abducted by unidentified number of Naxals during late evening hours from Bacheli in restive Dantewada district, were released unconditionally on late Monday night. However, no sooner the news of abduction spread life a wild fire, the entire rank and file of State and Railway Administration came on their toes, following which the movement of all trains on busy K K Rail Route was suspended.

Outcry over gallantry award to SP accused of torturing tribal woman, Dantewada

Women's groups in India have condemned the government's decision to award a police gallantry medal to an officer accused of ordering the sexual torture of a tribal school teacher.

A Police Medal for gallantry was conferred upon Ankit Garg, a former superintendent of police at Dantewada district in Chhattisgarh, on the Republic Day, Jan. 26. He was honoured for spearheading anti-Naxal operations in Maoist areas of Dantewada.

Naxals attack BJP MLA's convoy in Dantewada

Naxals today attacked the convoy of BJP MLA from Dantewada Bhima Mandavi, police said. However, no one was injured in the incident, they said. Additional SP Dantewada Rajesh Kukreja told PTI over phone that Naxals opened fire on Mandavi's convoy near Gamawada village in the district while the MLA was returning from Bacheli after attending a party function. Though nobody was injured, a vehicle of the security personnel was damaged, he added. The convoy has safely reached Dantewada, Kukreja said.
