Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh directed Secretary, Water Resource Department to get the repairing work of irrigation water reservoir in village Kharrichhote of Sarangarh block Raigarh district done. Chief Minister gave these directions during Jandarshan programme held at his Raipur-based residence today, on request of people from Kharrichhote village. Delegation told Chief Minister that this small water reservoir in village used to provide irrigation facility to farmers of five villages.
Agriculture Minister Mr. Brijmohan Agrawal on Wednesday stressed upon the need to provide toilets and drinking water facilities at schools and anganwadi Kendras. Public Works, Housing, and Environment Minister Mr. Rajesh Munat today visited Hanuman Nagar and Bheem Nagar localities in Ramkundpara area of capital city Raipur, today morning. During the visit, he inspected sanitation works and drinking-water supply arrangements. On request of the residents there, Mr. Munat gave immediate approval for construction of public toilet in Ramkundpara. Mr. Munat instructed Municipal Officials to expedite the ongoing construction of community hall in Ramkundpara. Rs 25 lakh have already been sanctioned from infrastructure fund for construction of this building.
Chhattisgarh Public Health Engineering Minister Mr. Ramsevak Paikra today reviewed the drinking water schemes in Raipur and Durg revenue Division. He called upon the concerned officers to rectify the unused or malfunctioning public drinking water facilities. The Minister reviewed the Nal-Jal schemes in Raipur, Dhamtari , Mahasamund, Gariyabandh, Balodabazar-Bhatapara, Durg, Rajnandgaon, Kawardha,Balod and Bemetara and the condition of hand-pumps.

NEW DELHI: After ensuring drinking water in all government schools by fixing October 15 as the deadline, the Supreme Court on Thursday took the next step by asking the states and Union territories to fix a time period within which boys and girls would get separate toilet facilities.
A bench of Justices Dalveer Bhandari and Deepak Verma did a roll call of the states and UTs about drinking water facility in government schools and complimented states which have achieved cent per cent target.
