Chief Minister Dr. Raman Singh has stated that Chhattisgarh has made the country's first Food Security Act (FSA) under Public Distribution System and after adding the component of Nutrition Security, has successfully implemented it in the State for the poor. Adding that the Central Food Security Bill (FSB) introduced by the Congress led United Progressive Alliance Government at the Centre is insufficient the Chief Minister said there is hell and heaven difference between the Chhattisgarh's FSA and Centre's FSB.
Food Security Act
Chief Minister Dr. Raman Singh has said that 42 lakh poor families with the Food Security Act the State Government have established a model for the country. For the first time in the political history of the country, any State has prepared a law by passing Food Security Bill in the Assembly with an objective to eradicate hunger.
Chief Minister Dr. Raman Singh has said that its through public welfare schemes that the people and this Government is committed to introduce more and and more welfare schemes for the people. He said the State Government will introduce the Food Security Act in the Winter Session of the State Assembly for the poor and common people. The Central Government has so far not been able to prepare the Food Security Act for the people in the country and Chhattisgarh Government will introduce the same even before the Central Government.
