The main Opposition Congress has come down heavily on ruling Bhartiya Janata Party Government for organizing the Global Investor Meet to beat around hollow claim of development and to woo the investors into the State, which is marred by corruption and irregularities. Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee President Nand Kumar Patel said that Global Investor Meet is noting but a gimmick and burden on State exchequer. The ruling State Government is spending Rs 50 crore on the event but there is nothing assured in return.

Nand Kumar Patel, president Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) convened a meeting with the Congressmen at Congress Bhavan on Wednesday. General Secretaries Subhash Sharma and Arun Vora, MLA Bhajan Singh Nirankari, Deepak Dube, Mahesh Yadav, Rauf Quereshi, PCC Secretary Siju Anthony, Corporators of Durg City and Presidents Block Congress Committee were present on the occasion. Nand Kumar Patel said Corporators, shadow Corporators and Block Presidents should mutually Coordinate to strengthen the party organization.
Recent public statements by two Congressmen, one young and one seasoned, besides a series of major decisions, indicate an effort by the party to create an identity for itself in Chhattisgarh, apart from being an admission of the fact that it has none. The state goes to polls in 2013.
