Chief Minister Dr. Raman Singh today thanked Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi and Union Railway Minister Mr. Suresh Prabhu for including all the proposals relating to the development of Railways in Chhattisgarh. Mr. Prabhu tabled the Railway Budget for 2016-17 in Parliament today. The projects will be speeded up with increased allocation to the State.
Union Railway Minister Mr. Prabhu today included all the proposals put forward by Chhattisgarh State. This includes Dallirajhara-Jagdalpur 235 kilometer railway route, Rail corridor -Raigarh (Mand Koliyari)-Boopdevpur 63 kilometer and Gevraroad-Pendraroad (122 km), Dharamjaigarh-Korba (63 km). It may be recalled that Dr. Raman Singh had met Mr. Prabhu on 09 February in New Delhi and requested him to sanction the projects for expansion of railways network in Chhattisgarh. M.o.Us had been signed for three Railway corridors also. The Corridors had been included in the Railway Budget presented today. The total length is 762 km. The proposals include Dongargarh-Khairagarh-Kawardha rail corridor to Bilaspur (270 km), Barwadih (Jharkhand) to Ambikapur-Chirimiri in Chhattisgarh (182 km). Raipur - Balodabazar to Jharsuguda (Odisha) (310 km) railway project are also in the pipeline.
Dr. Raman Singh said that with the completion of Barwadih-Ambikapur-Chirimiri railway route the Adivasi -dominated Surguja and Korea districts will be linked to all over the nation. Similarly Balodabazar district also will be linked with the railway network. Khairagarh and Kawardha regions also will be linked to the network. Dr. Raman Singh said that Mumbai-Kharagpur-East-West corridor proposal had also been approved. It will pass via Chhattisgarh and hence it will benefit the State. Seven railway stations-Raipur, Bilaspur , Rajnandgaon , Durg, Bhilai Power House, Champa and Raigarh- had been included in the list of stations to be developed on the P.P.P. model.
