4 programs for STs in Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Jharkhand, Orissa

New Delhi, Aug 5 (PTI) The Tribal Affairs Ministry is running four centrally-sponsored programs for the welfare of Scheduled Tribes (ST) in Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Jharkhand and Orissa, government said today.

In a written reply to a question in Lok Sabha, Minister of State for Tribal Affairs Mahadeo Singh Khandela said, "Post matric scholarship for ST students, hostels for boys and girls, establishment of Ashram schools in sub-plan areas and research, mass education and tribal festival are some of the schemes for welfare of tribals."

Govt approves two highway projects worth Rs 2,330 cr

NEW DELHI: The government today gave its approval to two highway projects worth over Rs 2,330 crore covering Chhattisgarh, Orissa and Kerala, with a view to expediting the infrastructure work in these states.

This includes the project for development of four laning of 150 km long Chhattisgarh-Orissa Border - Aurang section on National Highway-6 in Chhattisgarh under NHDP.

The total project cost is estimated at Rs 1,548 crore and covers the Districts of Raipur and Mahasamund in Chhattisgarh, an official statement issued after the meeting of Cabinet Committee on Infrastructure, said.

President Pratibha Patil to address Raipur Assembly

Raipur: Chhattisgarh Assembly is all set to welcome President Pratibha Devi Singh Patil on June 24.

Patil arrives in Raipur on June 24 to address the MLAs and inaugurate Central Hall in the assembly premises. The state assembly and all the members have cancelled all other engagements and are preparing for the president’s visit. Secretary Devendra Sharma and other officers examined the central hall that will be inaugurated by the president.

Assembly Speaker Dharamlal Kaushik held a meeting to review the preparation for Pratibha Patil’s visit to the state.

Postal department makes job search easy

Raipur: The postal department has introduced i Code Card to make job search easy for unemployed people in Chhattisgarh and the neighbouring states.

The new system which starts functioning from June 13 will help bridge the gap between companies and the job aspirants.

Chhattisgarh Circle Assistant Director (BD) MR Kavadkara told that with the help of i Code Card unemployed people can log on to and register themselves at the employment exchange. After the registration, the information of the unemployed will be available to employers.

Kamal Vihar Project - Land Acquisition for Housing Project at Raipur (Chhattisgarh)

The Govt. of Chhattisgarh has recently come up with a Project through its Urban development wing named Raipur Development Authority to acquire approx. 2200-2300 acres of precious commercial and residential marked lands to develop a housing project. The land compensations proposed are paltry, the chief points being :-
1) The owner of land has to submit his land (irrespective of whterher it is unutilized or developed) and in place of it receive 35% of the land submitted in the deveolped project.
