For the first time Minimum pension of Rs 1000 to be given under Employees Pension Scheme

Chief Minister Dr. Raman Singh felicitated pensioners in the nation-wide pensioner's felicitation programme organized by Employees Provident Fund Association (EPFA) today at capital city Raipur of Chhattisgarh. For the first time under Employees Pension Scheme, Dr. Singh gave away pension cheques of minimum amount Rs 1000 along with shawl and shreephal to the pensioners. Nearly 35 thousand out 65 thousand pensioners in state have been benefited by the hiked amount of minimum pension under Central Government's monthly pension scheme. The programme was presided over by Union Ministry of Labour and Employment Vishnudev Sai. As special guests of the programme, Member of Rajya Sabha Dr Bhushanlal Jangade, MLA Satyanarayan Sharma and RMC Mayor Dr. Kiranmayee Nayak were also present.
As Chief Guest of the programme, Dr. Raman Singh said that Central Government has taken an important decision in the larger interest of labourers by increasing the monthly pension amount, within the first 100 days of its tenure. Central Government has made budget provision of nearly Rs 1200 crore for this purpose. Dr Singh has expressed pleasure on implementation of this scheme and has considered it to be the moment of pride. Chief Minister said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has not only increased the amount of honour fund for labourers but have also elevated them to a respectable position in society. The amounts of pension will be transferred online into the accounts of pensioners without any delay and the pensioners will also be informed about the same on their mobile number through text message. Chief Minister said that this scheme has brought joy to the lives of a large number of pensioners, who have worked as labourers in beedi, rice-mills, pulse mills, sponge iron and other factories.
