Raising the issue of coalgate controversy and blaming the State Government for 'good turn' in allocation of coal blocks, main Opposition party Congress staged massive demonstration and 'gherao' Raigarh Collectorate here on Thursday. The posture of the party by Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee President Nand Kumar Patel. CPCC President Nand Kumar Patel speaking on the occasion said that Chief Minister Dr. Raman Singh has allocated the coal block in state at throw away prices to the persons close to him or party big wigs.

Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee members on the guidance from the All India Congress Committee chairperson Sonia Gandhi will launch aggressive posture against the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party over the 'Coalgate controversy.' In this regard the members will 'Gherao Raigarh collectorate on August 30. CPCC state president Nand Kumar Patel informed that as per high command order the party has drafted the strategy to counter Dr. Raman Singh government and intensify agitation.

Jogi has commented that the decision is an injustice to the people of State. He has also alleged that Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh Dr. Raman Singh is acting partial in the matter. The former Chief Minister has directly blamed that the ruling BJP State Government will be solely responsible for the scarcity of electricity, coal or water in future.

BJP Traders' Cell stages 'dharna' against FDI in retail in Delhi

In order to oppose the Food Safety and Standard Act and decision to allow Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in the retail sector, a nation-wide 'dharna' was organised on August 23 at Jantar Mantar in new Delhi, wherein, large number of activists from the Chhattisgarh unit of Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) Traders' Cell were present at the 'dharna' programme along with the activists from other States. Altogether 3,000 party workers from Chhattisgarh were present at the 'dharna'.

Rajnandgaon Police on Tuesday arrested and bailed out two Congress leaders accused of blocking National Highway during an agitation launched last year. The accused duo included Shivraj Singh Usre and Bholaram Sahu. It may be mentioned here that last year, several congressmen including the said leaders had blocked the National Highway staging protest.
