Asserting that Chhattisgarh Assembly has cut a niche for itself in the country, Chief Minister Dr. Raman Singhsaid that both ruling and Opposition have done commendable job in the intereste of the people during the Ninth Session (Budget Session) of Chhattisgarh's third Legislative assembly which was adjourned sine-die on Wednesday.

BJP membership campaign to be launched

Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) minority cell will launch a membership campaign within the State on BJP's foundation day April 6. Minority Cell State President Ejaz Beig announced the names of In-charge who will carry out the campaign in their respective areas.

CAG showed loss even before production starts,asks Agrawal

Clarifying the stand of Chhattisgarh Mineral Development Corporation (CMDC) on the allotment of coal blocks in Bhatgaon-2 and Bhatgon-2 Extension, wherein, Comptroller and Auditor General of India had pointed out that acceptance of lower rates for commercial mining of Coal Block by CMDC had led to potential loss of revenue, Gourishankar Agrawal, Chairman, CMDC said that it is hypothetical on the part of CAG to make such a comment because accounting of loss or profit can be done only after production starts from the allotted coal blocks.

After grilling the ruling party in the House over Comptroller and Audit Gerenral (CAG) report, main Opposition Congress is continuing its attack even outside, with Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee President Nand Kumar Patel alleging State Government of malfunctioning and corruption. It may be recalled that Congress on the last day of House, cornered the ruling Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) over a report of CAGpointing to lapses that had let to huge revenue losses.

The Ninth Session (Budget Session) of Chhattisgarh's third legislative Assembly was adjourned sine-die nine days earlier on April 4. Five more meetings were to be held during this session, but since the House was adjourned earlier, these meetings will not be held. The House will meet again during Monsoon Session, which might be held during the first-second week of July.

Govt signs 59 MoU for establishment of power plants

In Span five years the ruling Government has signed 59 Memorandum of Understanding for the establishment of power plants in the State. This information was given by Chief Minister Dr. Raman Singh in the House here on Tuesday. Replying to the question raised by Congress MLA Dr. Premsahya Singh, Chief Minister said that till 7th February 2012, the State Government has signed total 59 power plants in the State. This includes MoU of 23 Super Critical Thermal Power Plants and rest thermal power plants.

CM withdraw Budget proposal for imposing VAT on sugar, clothes

The State Government has withdrawn the budget proposal for imposing one per cent Value Added Tax (VAT) on sugar and clothes. A declaration in this regard was made in the House on Tuesday. it is worth mentioning here that a provision for imposing one percent VAT on sugar and clothes was made in the budget proposals for the financial year 2012-12. There were sharp reactions on the businessmen and memorandum was submitted to the Chief Minister Dr. Raman Singh in this regard by delegations of grocery and cloth merchants and had urged to roll back the tax.

Minister Munat cornered on Corporate Social Responsibility fund

Housing and Environment Minister Rajesh Munat was again cornered on Monday in the Chhattisgarh Assembly on the issue of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Fund. Congress Legislator Mohammed Akbar through his financial year 2010-11 and 2011-12, how many industrial houses from Raipur, Baloda Bazaar and Bastar had spent how much amount for CSR activities. Through his supplementary question he also asked can any company transfer the CSR Fund while referring the case of Godavari Ispat which has paid Rs 11 lakh of CSR Fund into Chief Minister's Relief Fund.

Cong to launch massive State-wide agitation against BJP

Congress will be once again on streets among the public to create awareness about State ruling government corruption and irregularities. On April 12, the main Opposition party will launch massive State-wide agitation and will also highlight others issues like coal and mineral mafias, liquor mafias, bungling paddy procurement, negligence towards central development schemes and atrocities on tribals. A high-level party meeting was conveyed at the Congress office, which was attended by MLAs, members of motoring committee, various district party posts holders and CPCC post holders.

Demands for new Police stations at Keonchi, Kenda to be considered, Nankiram Kanwar

Home Minister Nankiram Kanwar assured in the House that a departmental assessment would be initiated keeping in view whether to declare Pendra-Gaurela as police district under present circumstances and it would be complied if required. Answering the Call Attention motion moved by former Chief Minister Ajit Jogi, MLA Renu Jogi and others, the home Minister also assured that the State Government would consider their demands for establishing new police stations at Keonchi and Kenda.
