Assembly Budget Session from today

The Ninth Session (Budget Session) of Chhattisgarh's third Legislative Assembly would commence from Monday would be hectic for both Congress and Bhartiya Janata Party. It is being apprehended that the Session which would being with the speech of Governor Shekhar Dutt would be chaotic with Opposition Congress all set to make repeated interruptions in it. The Opposition has already prepared its strategy to corner the ruling Bhartiya Janta Party Government while the BJP Legislative Party would meet on Monday to make strategy for countering the opposition onslaught.

Runners for Rajya Sabha seat

Many aspirants from Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) have to come to fore the lone Rajya Sabha seat, which is becoming vacant from Chhattisgarh. With the term of MP Sreegopal Vyas coming to an end and Election Commission releasing the schedule for elections for vacant Rajya Sabha seats, hectic activities among the aspirants in this regard has increased. The meeting of State Election Committee for selection of suitable candidate has been scheduled on March 18.

Jogi flays BJP government for inflation

Former Chief Minister Ajit Jogi has appealed to the people of State that the ruling BJP Government which is responsible for increasing inflation and tax should that if Congress comes to power it will provide the power on subsidized rate and will make the State as Zero power cut. The former Chief Minister Ajit Jogi in his statement said that it sad that state is reeling under corporation and power production which is the main source of state revenue is grossly involved in malpractices.

Main Opposition party in the State, Congress seems to be geared up for the forthcoming Budget Session of Vidhan Sabha starting from March 12 onwards. the Congress will make sure that the Budget session will not have smooth sailing as they will to raise the issue like custodial death and hike in proposed power tariff during the proceedings. The Congress Legislative Party meeting was held here on Monday, in which issues like custodial death of jail inmate Santosh Dahariya and 30 per cent proposed hike in power tariff will be prominently raised during the Vidhan Sabha proceedings.

State Cabinet to meet

The Chhattisgarh Cabinet would be meeting on Tuesday for finalising the proposals for the forthcoming Budget Session of Chhattisgarh Assembly. The Cabinet might approve the Governor's address for the proposals for the third Supplementary Budget for the financial year 2011-12. Apart from these discussions might be held for other significant matters.

'Panchayat members not willing to perform'

The members of Panchayat are not shoeing interest in the development works of their respective villages which becoming biggest hurdle in growth of the country, these views were expressed by Dr. Anshuman Karola on the second day of the workshop entitled 'Panchayat Empowerment' organised by PRIA an non-government organisation here on Wednesday. Expressing his view on wayward functioning of Panchayat, Dr. Anshuman Karola, the members lack vision and are showing callous attitude towards various development works in their respective villages.

1400 questions submitted for budget session

The preparations for the budget session of state assembly are in full swing and all the departments of the state government are busy in preparing answers to the questions submitted by the MLAs. Till date more than 1400 questions have been submitted in the Vidhan Sabha. It is worthwhile to mention here that the budget session of the state assembly will be starting from March 13 and would continue till April 13. In this there will be total of 23 sittings. This will be one of the smallest of the budget sessions so far.

State government creating hype on NCTC

The Congress on Wednesday said that the ruling BJP was creating hype on National Counter Terrorism Centre (NCTC) which is solely meant to deal terrorism and not to interfere into states's matters. "12 states including Chhattisgarh are opposing NCTC terming it against the federal system of the country and trespassing of states governments' right. This is wrong notion as the opposing states are really unaware of the objective of the NCTC." said PCC spokesperson Sushil Anand Shukla.

Cong to monitor Central-run schemes in State

The main Opposition party Congress has taken initiative to properly monitor Central-run schemes in the State and has now focused it in the Bastar area. After having intensive monitoring in the Surguja region the Congress has leveled charges against the state ruling government for the gross violation regarding proper implementation of central scheme in the State.
