Chief Minister inaugurates two-day industrial development exhibition

Chief Minister Dr. Raman Singh today inaugurated the two-day Second National Vendor Development Programme and Industrial Development Exhibition organized at Central College of Engineering and Technology campus in Kabeer Nagar, capital city Raipur. This event has been organized by Central Government's Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Industry (MSME) in association with Chhattisgarh Government's Industry Department.
As Chief Guest of the inaugural session, Dr Raman Singh said that micro, small and medium industries have significant contribution in the country's economy. He said that though these industries are small in terms of capital investment but they offer more scope of employment than big and computerized industries. Keeping this in view, Chhattisgarh Government is making every possible effort to promote micro, small and medium industries. From time-to-time, we have included attractive provisions in our industrial policies. During industrial policy 2009-14, more than 5000 micro, small and medium industries were established in state, on which capital investment of Rs 3673 crores was done and 52000 people were employed. He told that presently, Chhattisgarh has 18000 registered micro, small and medium industrial units, which provided direct employment to nearly 2 lakh youth. Chief Minister told that as per an estimate of Central Government, 358 commodities produced by MSME industries can be used as input to public and major industries. Another provision states that the major industries should procure at least 20 per cent of their requirements from micro, small and medium industries. Chief Minister said that no industry can operate solely on government subsidy, industries should maintain the quality of their products so that they may successfully reap profit from it. In the programme, State Government's Principal Secretary Energy Aman Kumar Singh, Director of Central Government's Bhanpuri Raipur based MSME Development Organization AR Gokhe, Chhattisgarh Small and Medium Industry Assistant Association President Harish Kediya and Urla Industry Association Raipur President SK Jain and representatives of various industries were also present.
