School Education and Adivasi Development Minister Mr. Kedar Kashyap today inaugurated the 15th State-level Inter-Schools' Sports' Competition and attended the march-past of the school children. The sports' meet will last for four days. About 1050 sports persons are participating in various disciplines. Parliamentary Secretary Mr. Ambesh Jangde, School Education Department Secretary Mr. Subrat Sahu and International Hockey player Ms Neeta Dumre were among the large gathering present. The sports event is being organised by the School Education Department.
Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh today chaired the meeting of executive committee of Chhattisgarh Olympic Association, and took several important decisions regarding development of sports in state and also about the arrangements to be made for 37th National Games. Dr Raman Singh said in the meeting that sports talents of state, who have won medals for Chhattisgarh in past or who have missed the medal with narrow margin, should be polished into international-level sports persons.
The International Hockey Federation (FIH) has announced that the 2015 Men's Hockey World League Final will be hosted between 27 November and 6 December 2015 at Raipur Chhattisgarh. The event will be held at Raipur International Hockey Stadium. The Hockey stadium was dedicated to Hockey in August 2014.
The event will feature eight national Hockey teams: Australia, Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, Great Britain, Argentina, host India and Canada. This will be the first International Hockey event to be staged in Chhattisgarh.
Governor Mr. Balramji Das Tandon today met Asian One-Legged (Langdi) Championship 2015 winner Mr. Danish Khan at Raj Bhawan. Chhattisgarh Langdi Association Secretary Mr. Mohan Kumar was also present. Governor Mr. Tandon congratulated the winner and wished that in future also he will bring more laurels to the State.
It may be mentioned here that Mr. Danish Khan was the lone player from Chhattisgarh who participated in the Asian Championship in Thailand. He was a member of the Indian Team. Players from six nations participated in the Championship and Indian Team won the Gold Medal.
Chief Minister Dr. Raman Singh today met a delegation of Kick Boxing Association Of Chhattisgarh led by Chhattisgarh State Industrial Development Corporation Chairperson Mr. Chagan Mundhra. The delegation informed the Chief Minister Dr. Raman Singh that three Chhattisgarh players had won One Silver and two Bronze Medals in Individual events at the International Kick Boxing Championship 2014-15 held at Pune from 1 August-9 August. Four players have been selected in the Indian team from Chhattisgarh.
A THREE-MEMBER team of international Hockey Federation (FIH) inspected the under-construction international hockey stadium in Raipur on Thursday and issued directives for necessary developments. The team comprising of FIH Events head of Event Delivery Hilary Atkinson, Broadcast manager Rupert Rumney and event manager Yasiin Bey reached Raipur on Thursday. The FIH officials, accompanied by Chhattisgarh Hockey President Dr. Anil Verma, Sports Deputy Director O P Sharma and other officials inspected the stadium developed at the cost of about Rs 10 crore.
Chhattisgarh's Sports and Youth Welfare Minister Mr. Bhaiyalal Rajwade said that sports talent in state has earned a unique identity for Chhattisgarh on the sports map of the country. However, sports talent in Chhattisgarh requires furthermore polishing and recognition. State's new Sports and Youth Welfare Minister Mr. Bhaiyalal Rajwade expressed these thoughts in the departmental review meeting held at Mantralaya (Mahanadi Bhavan).
In order to promote national sport, Hockey World League is going to be organized in Chhattisgarh state. This tournament will be held in capital city Raipur from November 28 to December 6, 2015. Final match of Hockey World League tournament will be organized at Astroturf ground in Science College campus. In his meeting with officials of Hockey India Federation held today at Mantralaya (Mahanadi Bhavan), Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh gave approval for organizing the tournament.
Chief Minister Dr. Raman Singh today said that those winning medals in the ensuing National Games will be given higher monetary awards. The sports persons winning Gold Medals in individual games will be given Rs Four lakh instead of earlier Rs One lakh, those bagging silver medals will be awarded cash prize of Rs Three lakh 20 thousand instead of previous Rs 75 thousand and sports persons winning bronze medal will be given Rs Two lakh 40 thousand.
Nine sportspersons of Rajnandgaon based Sai Hostel have been selected for Seventh School Basketball Championship to be organized at Thailand. This championship will be organized at Chiang Mai town of Thailand from March 4 to March 14, 2015. These sportspersons paid courtesy visit to Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh at Vidhan Sabha premise today morning. Vidhan Sabha Speaker Mr. Gaurishankar Agrawal, Leader of Opposition Mr. TS Singhdeo, Tribal Caste and Scheduled Caste Development Minister Mr. Kedar Kashyap, and Parliamentary Works Minister Mr. Ajay Chandrakar were also present on the occasion.
