Three-tier Panchayat Election-2015: Meeting of District Election Officers

State Election Commissioner along with Senior Officials of State Government discussed about the arrangements for Panchayat elections and finalized the strategy for conducting independent, unbiased and peaceful elections. State Election Commissioner PC Dalai, Chief Secretary Vivek Dhand, Director General of Police AN Upadhyay, Additional Chief Secretary of Home Department NK Aswal reviewed the district-wise arrangements and gave necessary guidance and instructions on important aspects like voting, counting and security arrangements. In the meeting, it was decided that seven helicopters will be deployed for taking election teams to the polling booths in sensitive and highly-sensitive areas marked in Bastar Division. Collectors of Narayanpur, Sukma, Kanker, Bijapur and Dantewada districts in Bastar Division have identified such sensitive and highly-sensitive areas, where the election teams will be sent via helicopters. Besides, during all the phases of elections in entire Bastar Division, the voting on prescribed dates will be conducted from 6.45 am to 2 pm. A separate meeting of Collectors from Bastar Division was called to discuss the arrangements for elections, particularly the measures taken for security purpose. Collectors from Bastar Division informed that as compared to the previous year panchayat elections, there has been a significant decline in the number of such places, from where no nomination for any post has been filed. Collectors gave detailed information about the arrangements done for elections in the respective districts. District Election Officers of certain districts demanded for more ballot boxes. State Election Commissioner instructed Senior Officials of the Commission to provide ballot boxes at the earliest.
