Chhattisgarh Regional Science Center Society associated with Science and Technology Department of State Government will establish two B-grade science centers, each over 5 acres of land, in revenue divisions- Sarguja and Bastar. Presently, Chhattisgarh Regional Science Center Society has sent letters to Collectors of both the districts, requesting allotment of land for science centers. Estimated expenditure for establishing each of the science centers is Rs 4 crores. It is noteworthy that Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh had announced the establishment of science centers in Ambikapur and Jagdalpur, during his address to budget session in financial year 2013-14. Hence, in order to give a ground reality to his announcement, Science and Technology Department has already started the necessary preparations. At present, State has only one science center, which is of A-grade and is located at Vidhan Sabha Road, of state capital Raipur. This science center was inaugurated by Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh last year.
