In a major development, the State Government on Wednesday promoted 14 officers of State Police Service (SPS) cadre from the rank of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP)/ Assistant Commandant and appointed them to its further equivalent posts reading their new compatible positions as Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP)/Deputy Commandant. An official order to this effect was issued after the meeting of Departmental Promotions Committee (DPC) held on March 15, gave its recommendations to the State Government to elevate all these officers to the next level.

The Ninth Session (Budget Session) of Chhattisgarh's third legislative Assembly was adjourned sine-die nine days earlier on April 4. Five more meetings were to be held during this session, but since the House was adjourned earlier, these meetings will not be held. The House will meet again during Monsoon Session, which might be held during the first-second week of July.

An association of rights activists of Chhattisgarh christened 'Chhattisgarh RTI (Right to Information) Activists Association was constituted in a meeting held recently here. The RTI activists from across the state participate and pledged to fight against anti-RTI activities and people engaged in such activities. The president of the newly-formed Chhattisgarh RTI Activists Association, Sanjay Singh Thakur, said that the association would guide the new RTI activists apart from applicants of the RTI and fight against the Government and the information commissioner working against the RTI rules.

The much awaited demand of the sports lovers of Rajnandgaon construction of a modern sports complex with astro turf has been sanctioned by the CM Dr. Raman Singh. The sports complex will come up near Science College, Rajnandgaon. Collector Siddharth Singh carried out a meticulous inspection of the plot where the sports complex will come up. He revealed that, out of the total earmarked amount of rupees 22.71 crores, the first instalment of rupees 9.64 crores have been sanctioned for the commencement of civil work of the said project.
In a case of a vehicle repossession by financier on account of default in payment of loan instalment by the purchaser, Chhattisgarh State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (CSCDRC) has dismissed the appeal filed by the purchaser, observing that the vehicle was purchased for commercial purpose and appellant was not in the category of 'Consumer'.
