A delegation of Chhattisgarh Chamber of Commerce and Industries (CCCI) met the Chief Minister Dr. Raman Singh on a courtesy visit, at his residence on Thursday. The delegation extended a formal invitation to the Chief Minister Dr. Raman Singh to participate in the National Trade and Decor Fair-2013, in the capacity of Chief Guest. Chief Minister extended his best wishes for the outstanding success of National Trade and Decor Fair-2013 and also expressed his gratitude for the invitation.

Senior volleyball teams (boys and girl) of Chhattisgarh ledft for Jaipur (Rajasthan) to participate in the 61st National Volleyball Championship, commencing from January 7. The championship would conclude on January 15. Ealier, Chhattisgarh State Volleyball Association president and cabinet minister Rajesh Munat distributed kit to the players at his residence and extended hi best wishes for their matches. Sports and Youth Welfare Commissioner Rajkumar Dewangan deputy director O P Sharma were also present on the occasion.

Durg jewellery robbed, arrested in Raipur

Central Crime Branch (CCB) sleuths apprehended an accused on Friday, based on tip-off from informs. The accused was rounded up from near Raipur Railway Station and CCB team stolen gold-silver jewellery at his instance. According to CCB sources, they received a tip-off about a suspect trying to sell-off gold and silver valuables to auto-rickshaw owners on the Railway station.

For better railway facilities in Chhattisgarh, Union Minister of State for Agriculture and Food Processing Industries Dr. Charandas Mahant cailed on union Railway Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal at New Delhi and demanded for more direct trains from the State towards northern part of country. During the meeting, Dr. Charandas Mahant apprised the Union Railway Minister about massive passenger flow from Chhattisgarh towards North India, but due to lack of proper connectivity the passengers have to suffer a lot.

The striking Shikshakarmis were cautiously optimistic after their marathon meeting with Chief Minister Dr. Raman Singh at mantralaya in naya Raipur on Friday. Responding to the assurance given by the Chief Minister, thousands of shikshakarmis (Grade-I, II and III) observing strike at Sapre School ground since December 3, 2012 till date postponed their courting arrest scheduled to be held on Friday. The Shikshakarmis, however, staged 'symbolic arrest' which went off peacefully.

Prasad Kariyawasam, high Commissioner of Sri Lanka to India, paid a courtesy visit to Chief Minister Dr. Raman Singh at Mahanadi Bhawan on Friday. During the meeting with the Chief Minister discussion was held upon the possibilities of mutual collaboration between Sri Lanka and Chhattisgarh in the development of tourism as well as industrial investment. During the meeting, the Chief Minister gifted the visiting dignitary with a copy of 'Chhattisgarh 2012', a publication depicting the developments and achievements of Chhattisgarh in the last 12 years of its formation.
