State Culture and Tourism Minister Brijmohan Agrawal reviewed the preparation of Sirpur National Dance and Drama Festival organised by the Chhattisgarh Tourism Board (CTB) to be held at Lakshman Temple premises, Sirpur from January 4 to 6. On this occasion, Agrawal also inspected the programme venue parking zone, cleanliness, lights arrangements and the construction of Motel and directed the officials to make necessary security arrangements for the tourists who would come to the festival.

Civil Lines Police Station of Raipur District went online on Wednesday as part of the pilot project to introduce Crime Criminal Tracking Network System (CCTNS) in Chhattisgarh. Though the senior police officials clamed that the arrangements are in progressive stage to bring under 80 locations of the State including 55 police stations, 2 Range IG offices, 2 SP offices, one in PHQ and 20 offices of SDOP/ASPs, many ,crucial issues required to make CCNTS feasible and a huge success are yet to be addressed.

Despite Chief Minister Dr. Raman Singh's rejection of Shikshakarmis' two-point demands, their strike completed a month on January 2, 2013. It is to be mentioned that the shikshakarmis started observing strike from December 3, 2012 in favor of their demands- Shikshakarmis' merger with education department and benefits of sixth pay panel recommendations. Meanwhile reports from Kanker clamed that a Grade-III shikshakarmi identified as Jhrumuklal Mandevi, posted at Pakhanjur primary school in Kolibeda development block of Kanker District, committed suicide by hanging himself.

A Special joint meeting of Mayor In Council (MiC), Sustainable Urban Development Agency (SUDA) and Kivar Environ will be convened to hold detailed discussion on the Solid Waste Management (SWM) before January 10. This and other such key decisions were taken during the MiC meeting held on Monday. The project of Solid Waste Management (SWM) has been delayed by another three months, This unwarranted delay stirred displeasure amongst the MiC members, who are sensing corruption in the project.

Shikshakarmis to court arrest on Jan 4


Around 30,000 Shikshakarmis from across the State, including thousands of women, organised a massive 'dhikkar rally' amidst raising slogans against Chief Minister Dr. Raman Singh, School Education Minister Brijmohan Agrawal and other BJP Ministers and leaders at Sapre School ground on Monday afternoon. However, the Shikshakarmis were blocked between Bijli office chowk (Near Sapre School) and Dharna Sthal (Budhatalab) by the heavy police force by barricading the routes.
