R V SHAHI, Former secretary Power, Government of India, stressed the need for banning of less then 4 star rated electrical products while addressing the inaugural session of the seminar on Energy Efficiency held in Raipur on Sunday. The seminar was organised by Chhattisgarh State Renewable Energy Development Agency (CREDA), Raipur in partnership with National Institute of technology (NIT) and the New Management Association of Chhattisgarh (TNMAC), Raipur.

A CAR driver was arrested after hitting two policemen, who were crossing road near Mahila Thana on Sunday. Car driver hit the police personnel after jumping the red signal. According to the information, car driver tried to run away after hitting the police men, but he was caught near Shastri Chowk. These two on duty policemen were going to demonstration venue at Budhatalab, when a car (cg/04-HP/9446) jumped the red signal and hit the policemen.

For the students of Chhattisgarh, the convocation was held at IGNOU’s Raipur centre on Saturday afternoon in presence of Pt. Sunder lal Sharma open University Vice-chancellor Professor Bansh Gopal Singh was the chief guest. Dr. Singh awarded Gold medals to Dr. Anurag Sahu and Noor Afsha on the occasion. Dr Sahu occupied the first position in the country in diploma in HIV and Family Education while Noor Afsha topped the list in the country in the post Graduate Diploma in Journalism and Mass Communication.
HUNDREDS of candidates, turned up at their respective examination centres in Raipur to appear for the Combined Graduate Level examination on Sunday, were reportedly deprived of the examination owing to gross anomalies at the centres. To be be mentioned, thousands of candidates from different district of Chhattisgarh reached different examination centres set up for the competitive examination on Sunday morning. According to report, around 600 candidates for the examination centre at Daga College, but surprisingly arrangements were done only for 400 candidates.

A THREE-MEMBER team of international Hockey Federation (FIH) inspected the under-construction international hockey stadium in Raipur on Thursday and issued directives for necessary developments. The team comprising of FIH Events head of Event Delivery Hilary Atkinson, Broadcast manager Rupert Rumney and event manager Yasiin Bey reached Raipur on Thursday. The FIH officials, accompanied by Chhattisgarh Hockey President Dr. Anil Verma, Sports Deputy Director O P Sharma and other officials inspected the stadium developed at the cost of about Rs 10 crore.
