PWD Minister Rajesh Munat reviewed the progress in road construction works undertaken by PWD in Raipur City in a meeting held at New Circuit House here on Tuesday. He said that all sanctional works should be completed on time keeping in mind the quality of the work. Munat said that the canal road should be completed this month itself and ensure that there is progress in the road construction and road widening work. The meeting was attended by Principal Secretary Amitabh Jain, Secretary PWD Anil Rai, CE PWD DK Pradhan.

Public Works Department Mr. Rajesh Munat has instructed officials concerned to develop Neher Road in Raipur, connecting MMI Hospital to Anand Nagar, as model road. He said that no permission should be given to put up hoardings on this road. Minister Munat was addressing the inter-departmental coordination committee meeting at conference hall of new circuit house, when he gave instructions in the context.
Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Shri Nitin Gadkari today said that prosperity in the society comes with the laying of roads. He said under the leadership of Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi the Union Government had decided to lay the roads and construct culverts and bridges on a 'Mission-Mode' in the Naxal-affected regions. The work will be done with the co-operation of all States. Chief Minister Dr.Raman Singh said today that the Chhattisgarh Road Development Corporation was constituted to lay high-quality roads and at a greater pace. He was speaking at the first meeting of the board of directors at Mantralaya (Mahanadi Bhawan) here. He directed the officers to clearly demarcate the roads to be laid by the Corporation soon.
General approval for construction of roads on forestland in 10 Left Wing Extremism (LWE) affected districts of state will now be granted easily, as Central Government has slackened the rules related to this procedure. Centre has simplified the procedure for general approval under Section-2 of Central Forest Conservation Act 1980, keeping in view the need of infrastructural development for public utility. As per the simplified procedure, the general approval for construction of two-lane highways on forestland will be given by State Government itself.

State Government have given administrative approval for repairing and tarring of 13.30kms-long Pirda-Bhanvarpur Road in Mahasamund district. Rs 12 crore 4 lakhs 3 thousand have been approved for the same. PWD has released the order in the context from Mantralaya (Mahanadi Bhavan) at Naya Raipur.
