Addressing the 'Shram Shri Award function' organised on International Labor day, Governor Shekhar Dutt said that the contribution of labourers working in all the field including construction, industries and agriculture must be respected. He said that no nation can progress without the support from its labour class. On the occasion of International Labour Day, Chhattisgarh Trade Union Council organised a 'Sharm Shri Award' function in Government Multipurpose Higher Secondary School, Ambikapur, falling in Sarguja district.

Entrance exams were conducted for admissions into class 6 and 9 of the prestigious Sainik School bases at Divisional Head -Office of Ambikapur for the session 2012-13. Principal of this elite institution informed that results have been declared for the written exams and the qualified candidates will now have to undergo interview and medical examination which is scheduled from 28 February to 6 March. 42% of Indian children under five are underweight and malnourished. The figure is "a national disgrace," according to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. The figures come from the publication of the Hungama (Hunger and malnutrition) report, which examined more than 73 thousand cases in nine Indian states. A number of NGOs have conducted the survey. The result is impressive especially when compared with rates of GDP growth, which reached almost 10% over the past 20 years, making India the third largest economy in Asia.
