Chief Minister Dr. Raman Singh today said that programmes and policies can be formulated by interacting with masses and by not sitting in Ivory Towers and air-conditioned plush rooms. He added cheap rice scheme, free distribution of salt, grams, Nutritious diet scheme, purchase of minor forest produce on Minimum Support Price and many crucial decisions had been taken sitting in the sylvan surroundings of the rural settings. They benefited the common masses.

Three L.E.D. bulbs will be distributed free of cost to B.P.L. category families: Dr. Raman Singh

Chief Minister Dr. Raman Singh said that three L.E.D. bulbs will be distributed free of cost to the poor citizens who fall under the Below Poverty Line (BPL) category. It will save a lot of electricity for the poor. 'Chief Minister L.E.D. Lamp Distribution Scheme' had been launched. He urged the poor families to contact the Power Distribution Company to avail of the benefits. Dr. Raman Singh called upon the farmers to grow crops and horticulture as per the soil tests and environment.

CM reviews urban development schemes 451 city buses to be facilitated in 70 cities of Chhattisgarh soon

Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh instructed officials concerned to start operating 100 city buses in capital city Raipur under the first phase of City Bus Scheme and facilitate 451 city buses in 70 other cities of Chhattisgarh in the second phase. Dr Singh issued aforementioned instructions in the review meeting of Urban Administration and Development Department held at Mantralay (Mahanadi Bhavan) today. In the meeting, officials showed a presentation based on departmental works and schemes.

3 Gram Panchayat Get National Award at the hands of President of India Pranab Mukherjee in New Delhi.

Three Gram Panchayats of Chhattisgarh have been felicitated with national award for the fourth consecutive year in the field of literacy at the hands of President of India Pranab Mukherjee in New Delhi. The state has earlier received national awards in 2011, 2012 and 2013. In the programme organised at New Delhi, the President of India presented `Sakshar Bharat Award' to entire Rajnandgaon district apart from three gram panchayats of Rajnandgaon district viz. village panchayat Litiya and two gram panchayats of Koriya district viz. Banjaridhand and Devgarh.

Chief Minister Dr. Raman Singh has extended hearty congratulations to people on selection of Rajnandgaon district and three gram panchayats of state for National Literacy Award. This includes one Gram Panchayat Litiya of Rajnandgaon district and two panchayats namely Banjari Dand and Devgarh of Koriya district. In his congratulatory message, Dr. Raman Singh said that success of government schemes and campaigns is not possible without public participation and this National Literacy Award is the striking example of the same.

Road construction in forest areas of LWE affected districts is no more a complicated procedure

General approval for construction of roads on forestland in 10 Left Wing Extremism (LWE) affected districts of state will now be granted easily, as Central Government has slackened the rules related to this procedure. Centre has simplified the procedure for general approval under Section-2 of Central Forest Conservation Act 1980, keeping in view the need of infrastructural development for public utility. As per the simplified procedure, the general approval for construction of two-lane highways on forestland will be given by State Government itself.

Chhattisgarh to develop marine fossil park in Manendragarh

Marine Fossil Park will be established in Koriya district of Chhattisgarh. State Government's Forest Department will develop this fossil park. It is noteworthy that a marine fossil have been discovered on the bank of Hasdeo River near Manendragarh of Koriya district. Forest Department officials received information in the context during their visit to the area. Scientists from Lucknow based Birbal Sahni Institute of Palaeobotany have also inspected the area near Amakherwa village and have confirmed the existence of large quantity of fossil there.
